A modern reflection tool for adults who wonder if they may be neurodiverse.
Many adults today grew up before autism and neurodiversity was widely recognised. Some learned to mask, others were overlooked, and many still do not know why everyday life feels harder than it should. This project exists to provide a space for clarity, grounded in research and lived experience.
Thousands of adults like us are only now discovering that autism could explain much of their life experience. Formal diagnosis can be expensive, and waiting lists can be years long. Many do not want or need a certificate but would still like a clear picture based on recognised research.
AutisticOrNot was created to provide adults with a structured way to reflect, at a MUCH lower cost, in plain language, and with full respect for their privacy, without reverting to simplistic, limited free quizzes. Participation cost is £19.00.
What if it’s not just anxiety and it’s something deeper?
Neurodiversity differs from anxiety in that it is a different way of thinking and perceiving the world that is largely hard-wired into the brain. We cannot help it or undo it. However, we can learn to understand it and thrive within it. Currently, those seeking clarity as adults are faced with two basic options. They can take one of the many free quizzes (very limited and often lacking in scientific grounding), or they can join the long wait and expensive barrier of clinical testing. We propose something different for those who need answers and need understanding, but do not necessarily require a doctor. You’re in the right place.

Unless you are able to access public funding (eg NHS in the UK), a private clinic is the best place to get full testing for Autism and neurodiversity. However, it rightfully costs a lot of money which is a barrier for so many. We’ve been there. It’s higher than ever in 2025.
We’ve integrated the same frameworks where possible and translated them into a modern tool with a very low access cost for those who may not want or need a medical certificate yet. Whilst respecting the depth of research involved both in times gone by and in modern settings.
We believe we offer the most comprehensive program of this kind, thanks to our background in data science and the research we have compiled as people living an Autistic life successfully. -
Quizzes can be fun but they often leave you with more questions than answers at the end. A small quiz of a dozen or so options is also VERY UNLIKELY to pinpoint anything. Instead, they often exist as advertisements for clinics. We don’t do that.
Our reflection consists of 10 sections, deeply researched, with more than 200 focus points. Together, they generate a comprehensive, personalised report for you to keep (approximately 30 pages). It does take a little longer than a quiz (around 2 hours), but for many, this is the right approach. Many people share their results with loved ones, employers, and, of course, their doctor.
-
For children and young adults and for those whose autism is at the highest end of the spectrum (eg non verbal), a certificate or diagnosis signed by a doctor is vital as it unlocks educational pathways and medical support.
For adults who are already functioning in the world today, it may be less vital. Self-guidance is possible when the “gold standard” of a private clinic is not wanted or needed. That’s what we’re for. Many will find they are indeed NOT likely to be autistic, but will find neurodiversity in their results AND directions towards other conditions and life events. Equally valuable.
You are welcome to share your results with anyone you wish, be they medical professionals or individuals in your social group or home who you would like to explain more to. It’s entirely up to you.

The reflection programme is informed by leading autism research instruments including and extending the:
Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ) developed by Simon Baron-Cohen and colleagues at the University of Cambridge and in public domain.
Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale (RAADS-R) used in many adult screening contexts and extended in our programme for modern adults.
Camouflaging Autistic Traits Questionnaire (CAT-Q) which explores masking behaviours and has been further developed by our founder.
These have been combined with contributions from autistic adults in our group to create a realistic, accurate approach that balances science with lived reality. The result is an extremely comprehensive programme which can be completed online in British English.

Updated October 2025, partly redacted for privacy.
Due to the level of self-reflection required and the depth of questioning, participants must be adult (18+).
The reflection includes 209 questions across the following areas and you’ll respond through our professional dashboard, online…
Each question includes a short note explaining why it is asked. This helps you reflect honestly on your experiences without worrying about what the “right” answer might be. We do not hide the science and respect that our participants will GAIN from seeing the reasoning.
Social Communication. Conversations, friendships and understanding others
Adult Autism. Modern adult traits, including technology use
Restricted and Repetitive Behaviours. Routines, patterns and special interests
Sensory. How you experience sound, light, touch and other senses
Executive Function. Planning, memory, task switching and organisation
Camouflaging. Masking and strategies to hide differences
Developmental History. Reflections on childhood and early life
Work and Training. Modern work, study and employment experiences
Sexuality and Relationships. Dating, intimacy and personal closeness

Why we built it.
Your data, your life, your choice.
AutisticOrNot is designed for reflection, not data collection. We do not sell information or share it with third parties. Reports are generated only for you and are not given to others.
This project is not a charity but it is run on the principle of accessibility. The contribution fee covers less than the cost of the systems and research. Donations are welcome to support continued upkeep and improvement. Access to the full reflection and personalised report is £19 (euro or equivalent in British Pounds and Dollars). This fee keeps the project sustainable while allowing us to reach as many people as possible.
AutisticOrNot was developed by adults who know what it feels like to be missed by the system. Our aim was to build something that sits between a limited online quiz and expensive private assessments. It is a bridge, a modern, ethical, data-informed resource that respects privacy while offering MUCH more depth than quick self-tests.
“I kinda always knew that I was on the spectrum but this really helped me dig deep. I appreciated the notes along the way, and the report sums me up completely. It changed how I see and explain myself .”
– C Phelps, (51 Male) September 2025
Questions?
You’re welcome to drop us any questions you have. As your report is confidential, we will not have a direct copy of it so we will not be able to discuss your scores. However, we do offer 5 free access tokens per month for those on low or no income. Let us know if that’s you.
Sorry, we do not offer assessments to those under 18. All reports are delivered onscreen and by PDF download via email to the address you select.
Our report processing partner (global) is Agolix.
“We’re all different, and that’s beautiful. Autism is just one of those differences.”
– Chris Packham (British naturalist and broadcaster, autistic)
Is it AI or maths?
We do NOT use AI to generate our reports. The programme was created over an eight-month period by Alex Sass, an expert in human data who combined his own lived experience of adult diagnosed autism with extensive resources provided by the leading research institutions worldwide. We believe that quick quizzes might be fun and robots can be smart, but when it comes to identity and neurodiversity, only science and humanity combined give clarity. That’s just our opinion, sorry Elon!
Our technology is hosted on an Agolix professional assessments server (the platform that will collect your answers and perform the scoring), and our panel consists of fellow adults living with autism and identifying as autistic. Your report is some twenty pages long and delivered on-screen and by email (with a private PDF download link for easy printing).
